Kristy N.:
My 7 year old son had significant auditory processing difficulties due to his disabilities (cerebral palsy due to extreme prematurity and autism spectrum disorder). His IEP team agreed that his biggest challenges, the things that were holding him back the most, were his auditory processing difficulties and his inability to focus and attend. He did Lift for 60 hours during the summer, and when he returned to school in the fall, everyone who knew him commented that he was like a different kid. They were amazed and awed! He processes what he hears more efficiently and effectively. As a result, his language is exploding. Both his receptive and expressive language skills are developing exponentially and we can have conversations with him. He is approaching other children for the first time and speaking to them. He is asking them to play with him! He is verbalizing observations he is making about our world and it’s so amazing and exciting to hear what he has to share! He is going to make some great contributions to our society! His abilities to attend and focus have really improved. He is able to do the majority of his homework independently. His 1:1 academic aide is becoming more of a classroom aide, needed by my son in certain situations instead of all the time. I feel that he is now ready to participate in some of the after school enrichment classes his twin sister has been able to enjoy in the past, but that he was not ready for until now. He will soon be taking a Lego engineering class! A year ago, he definitely was not ready for it, but he is now. He has always enjoyed the outdoors and sports, but he was more reserved than his twin sister. He recently hopped on – and rode – a skateboard! I was really nervous about the investment in Lift, especially since there weren’t any guarantees. I knew, though, that his auditory processing was a big obstacle and that we needed to do something to address it. I’m sooooo glad his ST and OT recommended Lift…it was the perfect solution to a very big problem.

When a doctor informs you that your child is on the spectrum, a wave of helplessness and confusion takes over. We were grasping at anything, reading everything, and trying to get answers to the thousands of questions we had. Over time, we learned that if you do everything possible to provide the best possible therapy and care for your child, then you’ve done all that you can. We were fortunate to have found the “best” in Laura Walls and the staff at IT4K. They have given us hope, comfort and care that we didn’t think was possible. The people at Innovative Therapy 4-Kids, Inc. not only work with your child, but they look out for the parents as well. It takes a team to get through the difficult days and nights and we have found our team at Innovative.

Before coming to Innovative Therapy 4 Kids, Inc. my son was very resistant to therapy. When he first arrived, he brought behavioral issues to every session. He needed intense occupational and speech therapy. With the multidisciplinary approach of the staff, their extreme patience, and unwavering perseverance, he quickly changed for the better. After six months, he enjoyed his therapy sessions and did not want to leave. His behaviors are now tolerable, his speech under- standable and his sensory needs are coming under control. The staff also trained us as parents to continue their work in our home. The parent training was one of the keys to unlocking the great
kid he is now. We’re forever grateful to Innovative Therapy 4 Kids, Inc. for helping us with our son’s development and helping our family through the initial tough times we had when we started his intervention.

Innovative Therapy 4 Kids, Inc. is by far the best clinic that I have been to and I have been
to MANY. Laura Walls and her staff are great. They incorporate every aspect that is needed for my son's growth. Without her and her team, I feel that my son would not have made the gains that he has. In the past 6 months, my son has made more gains than he did at the other clinics that we have been to in the past 4 years. I was told over and over by doctors and other speech therapists that my son would never talk. Now I am unable to get him quiet. Thank you so much for everything that you have done for my son and our family. We love you.

Matthew has been attending IT4K for several years and from my first phone call to set up our first consult for Matthew, I felt this was a quality, safe, nurturing, compassionate and well
qualified environment for our son to receive speech, and occupational therapies necessary to teach
our child with Autism.
There are so many therapy offices out there that would like to think and say that they "understand" children with Autism, and they don't. Parents keep paying for therapy that isn't working for their child at these clinics and the child's needs are not being met. Unfortunately, these parents don't know what their alternatives are. If our children are kept in an inappropriate learning environment, a whole set of undesirable behaviors can be exhibited. They are just trying to "cope" with a situation that they are not learning from and they are not responding in a positive manner.
Matthew’s speech therapist has become a big part of our lives and has always had Matthew's best interest in mind. He is always thinking about how to challenge Matthew and how to meet his sensory and physical needs while teaching him to speak and giving him the building blocks to understanding language and the world around him.
We thank God for leading us to IT4K. Our son has been changed forever because of Tom and the IT4K staff's passion to help him. We are so thankful for their true understanding and whole body approach to helping our child gain communication while having fun too! |
